Prop 314 –Immigration and Border Law Enforcement
This measure makes it a state crime for noncitizens to enter the state anywhere other than a port of entry. It gives immunity to local law enforcement to arrest “suspected” noncitizens for crossing the border unlawfully, allowing racial profiling without consequences.
This law would be expensive and ineffective, and places an additional burden on local agencies already strained for resources. It does nothing to add Border Patrol agents or immigration judges, and doesn’t address deficiencies in the asylum system.
