District Quick Facts

Arizona Legislative District boundaries are created by the Independent Redistricting Commission every ten years following the census. The current Legislative District (LD) 8, formerly LD 26, boundaries were drawn in 2021 and will be redrawn in 2031. The number of representatives is determined by the number of residents as reported in the U.S. Census. LD 8 lies within Maricopa County and spans Congressional Districts (CD) 1, 3, and 4.

Cities

The residents of Legislative District 8 are represented by the Councils of the City of Mesa, Tempe, Phoenix, Scottsdale, and the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. The leadership of these communities are voted on by the residents of LD 8.

School Districts

Legislative District 8 is served by the Mesa, Tempe, Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Salt River Schools Districts. Each school has a governing board, with elected representatives who help shape the vision, mission, and policies of the district.
